Deadly Melody
Hong Kong 2003
Directed by Douglas Kung.

Everyone who rents a specific CD from the music store ends up committing suicide. One girl does a neat trick of dripping hot candle wax on her face until it is completely covered and she suffocates. Another starts gnawing on his finger, teasing us with the possibility he may devour himself. But alas, he is distracted by a plastic bag and puts that over his head instead. They never say specifically what the music is. I'm guessing the Carpenter's Greatest Hits. Shot on video, lots of talky dialog while the characters try and figure out what has been blatantly obvious to the viewer the whole time. Some special effects at the end are slightly interesting, so be sure to wake up about five minutes before the end credits to catch them.
