Love Undercover
Hong Kong 2002
Directed by Joe Ma.

I like Daniel Wu, and even here, when he's completely on autopilot, he retains some charm. Miriam Yeung, however, continues to confuse me by starring in movies without having any charm or ability. She mugs for the camera for nearly two hours, here, with such sad-sack expressions I wanted to beat her by the end credits. The movie itself is the now-typical formula of star-crossed romance with a chorus of eccentric friends in the ensemble. She is an ineffectual cop, he is the triad boss they are trying to bring in. A last minute cameo by Lee Siu-Kei and Ng Chi-Hung is nice, but too little, much too late.
