Marriage with a Fool
Hong Kong 2006
Directed by Yip Lim-Sum.

A new record for romantic comedies, the loving piggyback ride occurs within only the first ten minutes. I swear, Robert Crumb would love watching Hong Kong movies. Wah (Alex Fong Lik-Sun) and Bobo (Stephy Tang, from the girl band Cookies) got married young, and live in a flat they can hardly afford. At their wedding he runs into Josephine (Pace Wu), his neighbor when he was little, now grown into a beautiful woman. Whoops! Guess Wah had a few wild oats left to sow. The couple separate, and from then on it's all just endless mopeing about. The movie tries to be insightful about human relationships but ends up just being boring. Stephy Tang overplays her distraught emotional outbursts to the extend that she is basically the scary crazy girl my friends always warned me about. Pace Wu looks great, though, and gives one something to Google when interest in the movie flags. Which is almost immediately.
