Mummy Aged 19, The
Hong Kong 2002
Directed by Wilson Yip.

An update of the classic 50's teen angst movie I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF, starring the boy band SHINE (Tsui Tin Yau, Wong Yau Nam). 19 year old Bobo (Tsui Tin Yau), hates his name so much he changes it, and is embarassed by his parents (played by Carol Cheng and Hui Siu Hung) so much he doesn't even answer them when they call him on the street. His mood doesn't improve when he is cursed and begins to transform into a mummy. Funny and entertaining movie about teenage rebellion and loving your family. As the characters ask, "Isn't it too corny?" Answer: "Yes, but sometimes corny is O.K." The DVD is terribly flawed -- at about the halfway point the English subtitles move out of synch by one line. Each scene ends with the first line of the next scene, even if there are five minutes without dialog inbetween. Very unpleasant -- get the VCD instead.
