Supermodel
Hong Kong 2004
Directed by Vincent Kok.

Though Hong Kong has long imitated Hollywood and ripped off movie ideas one after another, it used to be the case that the Hong Kong version was always more outrageous and more entertaining. But in the post-THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY world, this simply is no longer the case. SUPERMODEL is basically a knock off of ZOOLANDER; but where the latter features unbelievable moments like a drugged out orgy with a Nepalese sherpa, SUPERMODEL substitutes a game of Twister. Rather than lamenting the passing of the great Wong Jing-Stephen Chow collaborations of the early nineties, I would rather put a positive light on SUPERMODEL -- it is the funniest of all the Vincent Kok-Ronald Cheung movies made so far. Now they just need to come up with their own story to tell -- because let's face it, imitating Ben Stiller is no way to make a living.
