Wedding or a Funeral, A
Hong Kong 2004
Directed by Ho Chi-Hang.

Sam Lee is about to get married, but that night, his beautiful fiance (Paulyn Sun) is abducted and he is forced to capture a series of ever more hardened criminals for the abductor or she will be killed. The movie, though obviously low budget, isn't too bad for the first half, as Sam Lee is shown to be a simple, easy-going guy who avoids confrontation, until the extreme circumstances of the evening make him assert himself more and more forcefully on others. The end, on the other hand, is a major disappointment. Not only are the final revelations lame (who is the abductor? why is he doing this? oh -- that's it?), but the climax fails to resolve whether Sam has changed in any meaningful way.
