Tales of Wonder

Tales of Wonder

Tales of Wonder is a compilation of games based on the short stores of early fantasy writers. Two of the games have already been released and are available for free download from this site. Additional games are in development. Tales of Wonder is currently not for sale, nor does it even exist in a CD-ROM format, but it may materialize some time in the future in a limited run collectable edition. For now, explore the entries below to learn about, download, and play the games already released.

The Ebb and Flow of the Tide

You have done a horrible thing, so horrible that burial will be denied you, either in soil or sea, neither can there be any hell for you. You wait for some hours, knowing this. Then your friends come for you, and slay you secretly and with ancient rite, and light great tapers, and carry you away.

THE EBB AND FLOW OF THE TIDE is a work of Interactive Fiction based on a short story by Lord Dunsany, originally published in 1910.

You'll need an interpreter to play the game. I recommend Gargoyle for Windows or Spatterlight for Mac.

The Journey of the King

"The King goeth upon a journey with many horses, yet riding upon none, when the pomp of travelling shall be heard in the streets and the sound of the lute and the drum and the name of the King. And I would know what princes and what people shall greet me on the other shore in the land to which I travel."

THE JOURNEY OF THE KING is a work of Interactive Fiction based on the short story of the same name written by Lord Dunsany and published in 1906.

The game is available for download from here, (courtesy of the Interactive Fiction Archive).

You'll need an interpreter as well, I recommend Gargoyle for Windows or Spatterlight for Mac.
